If one factored cost into the equation, I doubt most people wouldn't go out to eat in the first place. My wife and I go out to eat to relax, have someone else wait on us and to socialize and people watch. It is a frivolous activity we both enjoy. When we were younger we used to go out to eat much more than we do now. However, we still enjoy it.
