If what Rusty suggested does not work, You may need to remove the whole faucet from the sink to get better access. If the hex socket is stripped, the only think that will work is to carefully drill it out. Be careful not to remove the threads. just use a drill that is slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the threaded hole. Hopefully, Rusty's trick will do the job as it is a simple solution.
