I fly fish in the area but I wouldn't do it on Winnie in the summer. Right now (April) just after ice out, maybe....I've caught salmon in August on the surface but I was trolling streamers and in fishing terms it was truly luck.
Are you only interested in casting from a boat or do you have a canoe or kayak? Are you only interested in salmon? There are remote ponds in the area within 1 hour that are fishable for trout in the summer. Some of them stay relatively cool. Some are hike-in and some are road side. Also, you can wade some of them from shore. Then again, traveling North to the Ellis or Saco rivers (to name two) are a good bet for river fishing.
