About maybe two years ago, the NH Fish & Game purchased the smallish Downing's Landing for 1-million dollars, located at the very southern most tip of Alton Bay which is the southern most point of Lake Winnipesaukee, and have made it a free to use, boat launch and trailer parking spot ...... free to anyone .... free to park .... free to launch.....no attendant is present. Understand the ramp dock is still very wobbly....and the parking lot gets filled up early and fast. Not sure about the launch ramp's, under water condition?

At the Gilford town docks, immediately close to the new MP-HQ building.....you need a Gilford town sticker (residents and property tax payers) to launch a boat or park your car.

The MP-HQ does have a small number of designated visitor parking spots, close to the new building, for someone going inside to register a boat with the state....plus the MP charges five dollars less for your boat registration than at a local town hall, or local marina...... known locally as the 'Gimme Five Window!'
