You'll always have Debbie Downers who are too caught up in the negative to enjoy the positive. No doubt you're experienced enough to know the logistics and safety regarding the risk you assumed. Nice work getting out as early as you did! I've wakeboarded while cold late in November and early April but not while there was still ice!
