Question First Winter Harbor Bald Eagle of 2020?

Alerted by a distinct Loon cry, I awoke from a nap, and watched as an all-brown "juvenile" Bald Eagle flew by. He was peering into the woods to either side of me.

This is my first Eagle sighting since July 1st, but my second "alerting" by a Loon. (A brief three-note call).

I'm told there is a nest nearby (in Winter Harbor). I'll make a point to check it out and report back.

Our local Loon population is a small fraction of the usual numbers: maybe only one or two. One Loon left late yesterday afternoon, just as Hurricane Isaias' winds increased.

Nesting Bald Eagles would account for low Loon numbers locally.
