We just cut the cord as well. Sold our home of 36 years in November. Took advantage of the current real estate market and are now renting until my wife decides to retire. We had FIOS internet and tv. Started trying streaming about a year ago using my son's YTTV account. We use it here and at our place in Maine. It’s nowhere near as user friendly as cable but saving well over $200 per month helps get us over that. I bought a 65” TCL tv with the built in Roku system for $500 at Best Buy. Awesome TV. At some point we will get our own YTTV account but for now the $69 per month 300 mbps works perfectly.
