When these poeple look the other way, when someone they know messes up, or acts poorly...and yet when someone they don't know does something very similar, they call them an "idiot" "fool" "jerk" etc....Are they not setting themselves up to be called out? Or should the flip/flop just be ignored?
It tends to get my blood boiling, although I am working toward just ignoring it. I guess I always seem to set myself up to be the bad guy...but posters should be held accountable for what they write...yes? no? maybe?
This is where I think it gets tricky. While we think we "know" the posters, particularly the regulars, it is super easy to sit behind a keyboard and type something mean and/or nasty. It is a lot easier to type it, than to say it to someones face. I think that is the biggest problem with internet interactions in general.
Personally, I am not quick to judge. In person or online, I am not one to call out someone by calling them an idiot, or whatever. I am however very sarcastic, which can be a problem especially on the internet. You just cannot see the body language or facial expressions that, in person, would be a dead giveaway to the sarcasm.
I really wish I had taken some psychology courses in my younger years. I think it would be fascinating to research personal interactions and how they have evolved (devolved?) in the internet era.
