Back in the fifties I remember "Haying" in northern New Jersey as a "youngster". We walked alongside a haywagon and tossed the hay..pitch-forkfull at a time on to the horse drawn wagon. It was Hot and the chafe fell down all over us. We were itchy..and dirty..and couldn't wait till we could dive into the pond after the work was done.
