It is certainly not as efficient as a mini-split but the cold air is distributed better throughout the house. That was my concern in this situation. Without putting in multiple heads you have to consider the distribution of the air. Before choosing you need to think about closed doors, bedroom, bathroom with no air from the mini-split.
We have mini splits in Mass--they need a head in each bedroom
