I've stored a couple of cars in self storage units. Agree with The Professor on mouse proofing, I also use Irish Spring soap, cut a bar into 3 pieces and put them around the car, especially the engine compartment and under dash.

I've never thought humidity was any issue, but I'm storing in the winter, not summer. I don't think it would be a summer issue in a storage unit, they "breathe" a bit as they are not all that weather proof. Disconnect the battery negative or take the battery with you unless you plan to stop in and charge it occasionally, my units didn't have access to power outlets so charging wasn't an option.
