Basically just wet areas on the trail. Could be small brooks, could be areas of standing water. When they freeze up the groomers can pull snow over them and you would never know you were riding over one. When they free up any snow pulled into them just melts and you're usually left with a dip that's filled with mud that you need to carefully navigate with the sled.
