Majority of posts have very good advice: Regardless of the sport, take a few lessons before investing in the equipment. My two siblings and I had a Sunfish as kids; I had one as an adult. Great sailing. It's easy to have two adults aboard. BTW, I've sailed since I was being carried - more than 60 years. Crewed on sailboats from 60' and down to 10-12' Turnabout.
