Wow, those are some broad words!…can you be a little more specific on what exactly you found so “sub par”?
I have been in the commercial construction industry for 45 years. I have been involved in many 5 star hotel / resort projects all along the eastern seaboard and can honestly say in my opinion nothing could be further from the truth.
The investors spent 92 million dollars building the Lake Estate and most of the materials and labor came from local area artisans. This from their tour information sheet which I went on…
”While not all materials were local, The Lake Estate on Winnisquam (opened in late 2025) was primarily built using regional materials and labor to honor New Hampshire's architectural heritage.
The resort was designed to prioritize local sourcing in the following areas:
Primary Structural Materials: The estate utilized white oak timbers and fieldstone for walls and pillars that were sourced directly from regional mills and quarries.
Artisanship and Labor: Owners emphasized that the $90 million project was built by "New Hampshire hands," including local electrical engineers, carpenters, and master craftsmen from across the state.
Landscape: The property features over 9,000 plants installed by a Moultonborough-based landscaping firm.
Interior Decor: Custom furnishings and decorative pieces were contributed by New Hampshire artisans, and the public spaces feature photography and artwork by regional creators.
Exceptions to local sourcing included specific high-end luxury imports, such as Asian and European carpets and a large French tapestry in the dining room. In 2026, it remains the state's most significant modern luxury real estate investment“
There is no comparison to either the Mountainview Grand or the Mount Washington hotel both of which are at best a 2 1/2 star hotel / resort and in need of serious upgrading and repair and food and service are OK at best.
Yes the Estate is expensive and isn’t for everyone or everyday visits but they certainly did not “cut corners” and it is certainly far from “sub par”!
