Saltwater bottom paints demand care when removing.
Some bottom paints have been outlawed worldwide due to poisonous effects.
Removal-residue should be collected as hazardous waste, especially where it could enter the Winnipesaukee Basin.

Descant suggested, one or two coats of white color is safest, easiest, and might smooth it out.
