Looking for recommendations for companies that sell and service water softner systems.

My Culligan water softener system needs to be replaced. It's aa salt-based (ion exchange) system, that re-generates on cycles. Has a salt brine tank.

Two companies I plan to engage are Gilford Wells, and LaChance in Belmont.

Can these systems be installed by a regular plumber ?

Also, would like other vendor recommendations, and system Brand names people have installed in their homes.
