The real answer
In the midst of the speed limit furor I believe the Concord Monitor, via helicopter, counted ~1600 boats actually boating, not anchored or docked. This was on a beautiful July 4. That's about 27 acres apiece. If 200 of them were in the channel and Paugus, that's over 30 acres each. Not really so crowded are we?
