Unfortunately discrimination still exists today. Looking at it objectively it's incredibly difficult to change as there are so many stereotypes and variations that come with it there is no set way to address it never mind identify its source. Many businesses today are forcing the issue by installing quotas where it is not about hiring based on qualification, experience and expertise but rather simply on appearance. Then again I've personally seen well qualified candidates passed on with no good explanation but I can very easily come to the conclusion that working in an industry that is heavily male dominated, women in particular don't get a fair look when it comes to being hired or breaking into a management\leadership position.

Hard to say what the right answer is here, ideally it would be awesome if none of this existed.
