One of the first things we did was install a Dishwasher in our Cabin. I disconnect the hot water feed first. Our GE has a removable filter that gives access to the tub where the water sits; I sponge out what I can.
I searched around the frame underneath the unit until I found the schematic / maintenance sheet. I found the "TEST" codes to cycle the pump, I put RV antifreeze in the Tub and cycle the pump a few times. My drain hose is opaque so I can see the pink in it. This gets the water out of the loop in the drain hose on the side of the dish washer. With the test codes I also open the water feed solenoid.
It sounds complicated, maybe the first time, but it's better than doing dishes by hand.
