I squared off the bottom of one of my older boats in Meredith Bay a few years back ..... and I mean SQUARED off ! With good damage to the inner prop (Bravo 3) ... to this day I still do not understand how or why the second prop was never even dinged.

The rear prop was not damaged because the Mercruiser hydraulic trim system is designed to let the drive tilt up unencumbered while in forward gear. It was probably on its way up when the front prop took the hit and all the way up when the rear prop cleared the rock. There is a reverse lock valve in the hydraulic system that keeps the drive from tilting up from prop thrust when in reverse. See page 8 here:
