GILFORD - A dive team has been called in to search for a reported missing boater on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Emergency crews were called in just before 10 a.m. after a boat was spotted going around in circles on Lake Winnipesaukee off of 500 Edgewater Drive.
It was reported that an adult male may be in the water, police said.

Rescue boats from Gilford and Laconia were called in and found a small "skiff style" boat travelling around in circles with no operator visible.

Marine Patrol officers were able to stop the boat, which had a dog on board. The dog was rescued, and the boat was towed to Marine Patrol headquarters.

The Fish & Game dive team was called in to help in the search for the missing boater.
Several areas of interest on the lake were marked with buoys for divers to investigate, authorities said.

Sonar equipment has been brought in to help in the search too, according to Gilford Fire & Rescue.
The search for the missing boater continued this afternoon.
