Some people have an aversion to the GW Bridge, but most of the angst is dealing with the Cross Bronx Expressway, which can be bumper to bumper till you get to the bridge, then it opens up frequently. If you are not trailering, I would suggest you try the Saw Mill Parkway. This will lead you directly to the GW and traffic is usually light.
