Hmmm interesting I do lower the hot water tank to "vacation" when leaving and it's always turned back up towards the hotter range when people are there. I have no idea what the temp ranges are the dial just reads "Vacation" "warm" "hot" well you get the point. key is to make sure you let it heat up fully first and then run it if you are going to shut it down
