You never said What.. on your sail was in need of repair. If it just needs stitching..anyone can probably do it.

The Sail Maker..(Brand) and the AGE of the sail is most important. If the sails were well protected with Sail Covers,... Dacron sails will deteriorate rapidly if they are not protected from the SUN...on the off hours.

Five to maybe Seven years will probably be the limit: IF they are protected. Many people don't protect the sails. I'm talking about the Main. Headsails are (Were) usually "Bagged" and stored below.....: Roller Furling sails are probably the number one Victims of SUN Damage..UV.. NB

PS: A sail over seven years old is OLD. The sail is stretched, and no longer has it's original aerodynamic Shape. The Shape of the sail is what makes it effective in driving the boat foreword.
