Is it basically the same type gas, except the cost ?
The gas itself is the same, usually 89 octane, so comparing with the "middle grade" at a gas station is the best way to figure the pricing difference. Additionally, some marinas have gas with the additive already mixed. ie: I get my gas at West Alton Marina (almost exclusively) and they have Valvtect additive in their gas.

I believe there are a few marinas selling 87 octane gas, and a few may also have 90 something octane that some of the higher powered boats may desire / require.

Some folks may say you shouldn't buy gas from a Marina at the start of the season. If I need gas at the start of the season, I just go get my gas...life is too short to worry about it.
