Like lady bugs they look for a warm place to spend the winter. The vacuum cleaner is the tool of choice here. They will be gone in the spring but will be back next winter if they can find ways in.
Warmers days tend to bring out some of these bugs, we have the Asian Lady bugs and Western Conifer (Pine beetle) creeping around our house. The pine beetle doesn't smell that bad if you step on one, sort of a sweet pine aroma.
