When I lived in Vermont, I rented an apartment from a guy that would ride all year long as weather permitted. Once or twice he got caught at work when a snow squall hit while I knew him. As long as the roads where salted and mostly wet, he would ride slowly home. Although I did get a call one time and picked him up.

Always to my surprise he was never worried about himself, or his ability to handle the bike in bad weather. The concern always was about the cars around him, and the fact that if they lost control, he wouldn't be able to get out of their way.
