I do not know the exact dates of your holiday, but mid-August through early-September is the NFL pre-season. The New England Patriots play two home games during this period of time. Both are on Thursday evenings at 8:00. The dates are 18 Aug and 1 Sep. Gillette Statium is about 2.5 hours from the lake. Last I knew, tickets were available. The ticket office phone number is 800-543-1776 here in the states. Ticketmaster also has tickets on-line.
FYI: It is almost impossible for those without season tickets or connections to big companies to get into regular season games. So pre-season games are the games us regular folks attend and are well attended.
