Considering that that area contains the post office, Fiddleheads, the school, and the Main St. Cafe, I don't think a one-story strip mall will stick out that much. Can't be any worse than having the bank and the old service station next to the Community Church in among the New England style homes on Main St. Like Argie's wife, I can't picture a big enough spot on School St., for a strip mall, unless just the entrance will be on School St. with the building itself tucked in behind the post office. The old laundromat isn't exactly a thing of beauty.
I'm just glad the new laundromat will be in a safer place to enter and exit. If the new machines are as fast and efficient as the ones in the Gilford laundry next to Patrick's Pub, we'll really be happy as they take only 25 mins. instead of 45. Too bad someone doesn't come up with a commercial use for the old Electric co-op building across from the cemetery. I hate to see buildings like that sitting empty.
