lakejen: We too live in Alton, and buy most of our produce at Fiddleheads. We have found them to be very much cheaper than Hannafords. We also get our eggs there...still $.99 a dozen.
When a store like Hannafords go into a small community, their pricing is such that it is either cheaper to shop there than to spend the gas to go 20 miles away to a larger store; or they are roughly the same price, but the packages are smaller (12 oz vs 16 oz, etc.). It is the price for living in our small town!!!!
