Ye Olde WALDO PEPPERS
Ye Olde Waldo Peppers is perhaps the oldest and most venerable of the Weirs Beach Dining establishments. Founded back in the time of the early settlers it was quite popular with the native American indians.
It was originally housed in a teepee and all cooking was done over an open fire. Pepper's great, great, great, great-grandmother, Paprika, (
) would go down to the fish weirs early each morning to spear shad for delicious hot buttered shad rolls and to trap land-locked Winnipesaukee lobsters. (Now extinct
) Weirs scholars and archeologists have recently unearthed newly found documents which seem to indicate that Waldo's did not always have an aeronautical theme but for many years apparently had a railroad theme. Weirs scholars are still puzzled over these newly found manuscripts and continue to investigate their possible meaning. To view one such manuscript
