I'm surprised Shaws didn't decide to move across the street. In my home town of Merrimack there are three Shaws properties all within 2-3 miles of each other. When there was talk of property being developed in the north of town Shaws built a store there and kept the one mid-town. Then when there was talk of property being developed at exit 11 off route 3 Shaws closed the mid-town store and moved there. In the process Shaws solidified their hold on the town. Now there's an almost vacant strip mall in the middle of town. The other stores have either closed or moved to exit 11. Its obscene. Shaws stuck it to Merrimack and we now shop elsewhere. Most of the time its Hannaford in Bedford but when we can its worth the trip to Market Basket in Nashua.
