DaveR started an interesting thread a while back - Why is it called Rattlesnake Island? Smith Point says that he actually saw a Rattlesnake when he was 15! (Post 16)

If you visit the Libby Museum in Wolfeboro, you can see the skin of a rattlesnake from our island.
