The Lakes Region is very fortunate to have a number of newspapers including The Citizen and the LaDaSun and others. Having to compete against themselves served up for free on the internet is a highly unusual situation. Given the choice between paying 50 cents or free seems like an odd choice. It just could be that the real newspaper money is all paid by the advertisers so maybe it does not make too much differance at the end of the day?

The LaDaSuns' letters to the editors is usually a good read. ::

Last month, the LaDaSun had a large display ad one day which showed a large photo of a Navy SEAL holding an assault rifle in a somewhat threatening combat type situation. It read that the SUN had recently hired a former NAVY SEAL to do past due advertising collections and that while you, the SUN's advertisers, might be tough it stated that "we are tougher!" Not your everyday newspaper ad......gave me a big chuckle .......
