Be careful of what you ask for

On the western entrance to the Braun Bay sandbar there is a rock. Generations of local kids (myself included) have called it "Picnic Rock". We would paddle, or motor to the rock and tie up for a...

Mighty Mo

Some of you may not know how he got his name. Mighty Mo (Bill) served on the USS Missouri during the Korean war. He was justly proud of that.

The nick nave of the Missouri was the Mighty Mo.

I drifted between Long Island and 6 mile. Red hill...

A pair of loons have returned to Braun Bay this week. They are doing a lot of fishing. I guess a long winter.

Summer people

Some years ago the head of NH DES made a prediction. He said that the people in the NH tourist areas were not likely to have a meltdown, hurricane, or volcanic eruption. What we could expect is a...

I have a new (retirement) job! I'm working on the Mount as a deck hand and engineer.

First, this post is about a fire boat for Gilford. Not who has the biggest "post" on the Forum.

250K sounds like a lot of money and it is. Let's do the math.

Over the 20 to 25 years that...

Were they here first?

Pond boy:

I really don't think that the geese were here first. These birds are migratory and in the past have only stopped to "visit" the Lake. In the past 60 odd years that I have observed the...

Not sure, but we have had dock spiders ever since I can remember. We have always called them "Woodies". They used to be creepy but now they seem to be more interesting. I have never heard of anyone...

Nav. class

Not so much. It is mostly chart work and piloting. It does not look at inland boating so much but it will teach you to use the Bizer to get around the Lake. You can pull out your cell...

Not that expensive

Using an Aquatherm is really not that expensive.

If you pay a dock company pull your dock in the fall and put it back in in the spring you are talking some big money. Probably around $400 each...
