Play & Pay!

This is an excellent opportunity for the 'average Joe' to financially express his opinion. Now, if we could only have local, state, and federal fees/taxes work the same way!

Children's sweat equity ......

Give the kids a bucket of water, some sponges, and can of Ajax powder. Works great; and it helps to raise the lake ph. :D

Frosty Bubbles

I have my bubbler set up to run on a thermostat; on/off at 35/45. Ice formation is temperature dependent. I'll turn the whole gizmo on the first weekend in December and off the last weekend in...

Diesel Powered Toys

Its gotta be out there somewhere. You can always arrange for a delivery by truck .... its done all the time for construction equipment. How does the MP fill the tanks on their big boats? How about...

Pros & Cons

Feb,
I think a bubbler would work fine in two feet of water. They are so damn cheap to run, you can't afford not to use it! It costs me about $25 to run a 6 cfm compressor for the entire ice season....

My Favorite Subject

Yo Feb,
Both circulator and bubbler work well. But, bubbler is MUCH cheaper to run; bubbler has higher set up costs. I went the bubbler route and defend its application ...... while fully respecting...

Fear Not The Tax Man

I'm in Alton.

Does any one here have any concerns that water front/view property valuations might be perhaps a little on the high side for out-of-staters and, conversly, perhaps a little on the...

Bucket of vibrating bolts

High performance 2-stroke engines , like those found in PWCs, are very prone to failure. Spinning around at 6K rpm will bring nothing but trouble. PWCs are not like boats; a well maintained boat...

Expensive Hole in the Ground

Using drilled 6" wells is a necessary evil for those without waterfront property ..... wells are the only way .... at about $6K each. Dropping a couple 1" polyethelyne lines into the lake would be...

Free .... but for how long???

My brother in PA uses groundwater from two drilled wells to help reduce energy costs at his house ..... works well and has paid for itself.

Exploiting the thermal mass of the lake is a fantastic...

Where's the 'Mini-mount'?

Has anyone seen the 'mini-mount' this year? Its strange to not see it berthed in Wolfeboro, or out cruising the lake. I heard someone indicate that it was never launced this year due to its poor...

Where is everybody?

I think boat traffic is light ..... perhaps due to expensive gas or poor weather/water levels. In general, I think this is showing to be a challanging tourist season, economically speaking.

I received (probably) the same letter and form. I gather they had too many complaints about the quarterly thing ...... probably seemed like a good idea at the time ...

A $400 investment ....

I've been extensivly using a newly acquired range finder this spring, as I travel around the lake. Its a Nikon with one-half yard resolution.

It worked wonders this weekend when the MP pulled me...

Cheap Bubbles!

Thanks for the input, APS. For what its worth, I guess the bubbler method is roughly 1/2 the cost to run. I'm glad I made the right decision .... it doesn't happen very often!

ATVs, ATVs Everywhere, But Not A Trail To Ride!

When I go 4 wheeling, I need to trailer them several hours into Maine before I find that ATVs are 'socially acceptable'. NH makes a feeble attempt to provide a few local trails, but they usually...

Crank It!!

A crank up is absolutely the way to go; if I was building a new dock. But, I have a very nice 'non-crankable' deepwater 35ft. aluminum dock, a boat lift, and a floating jet-dock.

I didn't want to...

Clever engineer ....

Glad to help. Being a thrifty hard-core engineer has its benefits. I hope others can see the savings of a linear compressor vs a 1/2 hp circulator.

Interestingly, the bubbler method is not...

Wow,
You haven't lived until you see a large scale factory, not fitted with auto phase trip, drop 1 of 3 phases. Its a very, very expensive light show ..... not so nice to watch the machinery run...

Total Due: $32.00 ($20 of that is a fixed cost "Member Service Charge")
