1995 Four Wills 220 Horizon
I would appreciate any input... Pro or Con regarding this boat. I am looking at buying a used .. Lake Winni only ... extra clean ... never trailered fuel injected boat.
Your comments and experience are greatly appreciated. |
Four Winns
Have always been known to be a well built boat. When GenMar took over the factory, I heard pros and cons. But generally I don't thaink you can go wrong. Melvin Village Marina and Winnisquam Marine have good reputations as dealers.

The 1995 Four Winns 220 Horizon is decent boat. 22 feet is a good size for boating on Winni. Good handling when the water is rough.
If it powered by a Volvo Penta then great. Very reliable power package. Drive unit is strong, engine (which ever v6 or v8) is very good. Yours will most likely have a v8. If powered by OMC (Outboard Marine Corporation), then I would be a little weary of buying it. It is always possible to hit something when boating and with the OMC they are hard to fix if the parts are not available or difficult to find. If you do find the parts then get ready to pay the price for it. This is just my opinion on them and what I have run into in the past. Good luck with your future boat purchase. Kyle |
You'll want to check the condition of the seats and canvas. My '96 200 Horizon is starting to come unstitched (the thread is giving up). This applies to the upholstery that is in direct sunlight (must hasten deterioration). I think that this would be true of most boats. I have been VERY happy with my boat, now on its 14th year.

Four Winns
Winni-Retired,
I have a 1995 225 Sundowner, 255 HP, OMC drive, with about 1,200 hours. Very similar to the Horizon. I have had good luck with this boat. Would always like a bigger boat, but this has been adequate for Winni. Good Luck, Bill |
Deal did not happen
Thank you all for yoru information and guidance.
The owner of the boat elected to take a higher offer than mine .... AKA original asking price. I will continue to look for a good used Four Winns 220 Horizon. |
