CrawfordCentury 08-12-2009 04:48 PM

No antlers. I can't tell if it's a male or a female. But on the assumption it's the former, I'll go with:

"Pointless Bull"

Lakesrider 08-12-2009 05:35 PM

Ice Cream, Ice Cream. Gotta get me some Ice Cream......

Rattlesnake Guy 08-12-2009 05:40 PM

With this nose, I can smell Kevin's Café from 2 miles.

EricP 08-12-2009 07:25 PM

I'm pretty sure I've got the right of way here

EricP 08-12-2009 07:33 PM

I hope that following the moose in the boat to take pictures didn't cause her to get tired from having to swim more avoiding the boat following her. I really enjoyed these pictures but just want to also mention that we need to be concerned about how we address these lovely creatures in their habitat.

spinker 08-12-2009 07:36 PM

Looking for a place to dock.

It looks to me like the moose isn't swimming away from the photog. Moose can swim for miles. Their hollow fur helps them float. They are very good swimmers. Nor does it look like the camera boat is too close. I address them, "Hello Mr. Moose".

:)

I did look at the other photos and she did appear to be changing direction and you can see a part of the boat in one photo. I don't mean to imply this is what happened, and I also didn't want to sound soap boxish (is that a word?) just general thoughts and concerns. I know they can swim quite far, how far had she gone before ths photos? Not trying to create a problem and let's get back to the captions :)

"Has anyone seen my cello?"

BernerGuy 08-13-2009 05:31 PM

Moose?

Hate to be a skeptic, but it looks to me like a dog with a moose head photoshopped onto it.

ACutAbove 08-13-2009 07:46 PM

That moose has a deer caught in the headlights look....

He better not be going over 45 in that thing or Im sure Marine patrol will ticket him/her

nj2nh 08-13-2009 08:09 PM

My husband thinks it was photoshopped, but only because we joke that moose are a myth. I have been coming up to the lake for longer than I care to mention, but my entire life and have never once seen a moose.

We left for Jersey on Sunday. My theory is that all the moose leave when I enter the state and this one was in a real hurry to get back home once I left!

After failing the Olympic Aquatic Ballet Team try-outs, Myles decided that distance-swimming was his calling.

Concerned? Me too.

Right here on the lake, a moose will swim by every few years. When they start out on a swim, only their heads and necks are above water. As soon as a boater approaches, then the back of the moose will appear above the water. (Indicating an increase in effort and stress). :(

GTO 08-14-2009 04:20 PM

oh great....

now we have to worry about moose itch!

Seeker 08-14-2009 07:21 PM

OK, I passed Bear Island now where's Moose Island?

This'nThat 08-14-2009 08:22 PM

No, I'm not lost. I don't need a map, and I'm not going to ask for directions. Now stop nagging me, hon, I know this is the right way. Just try to keep up, will ya?

NHskier 08-14-2009 09:18 PM

Moose Island is southeast of Rattlesnake Island.

We cruised by there today but didn't see any moose. :)

RI Swamp Yankee 08-14-2009 10:06 PM

Why do those big boats keep calling me a "speed bump"?

Argie's Wife 08-15-2009 09:01 AM

He wore an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini, and in the water he wanted to stay.

Winnigirl83 08-15-2009 08:29 PM

I just swam my antlers off!

Meredith lady 08-15-2009 11:58 PM

Moose Crossing

it would seem to me that in safetys sake the State should have the marine patrol install some "Moose Croosing" signs in the area!

gtxrider 08-17-2009 01:23 PM

where is the Captain?

Mr. Moose is looking for Captain Kangaroo and Bunny Rabbit...:rolleye2:

We had family visiting from Auburn, NY and they were asking if there were any moose around. That answers that question!

jetskier 08-17-2009 03:37 PM

:-)

Spotted by the marine patrol, he planned to use the excuse that he was only traveling at head way speed.
