Our secret is getting out, thing is all of the World's secrets are getting out and we're not the only ones seeing this influx of activity. That contest to redefine the list of the Seven Wonders of the World has put focus on places that most people have never heard of, but they have now and are flocking there in droves. All this increase in activity will have negative impacts, environmentally as well as asthetically. The population continues to grow, these people need places to live, vacation, etc... the denser the cities become the bigger the desire to find someplace to "get away from it all" and just unwind on weekends, or whatnot.

Thanks for posting this. We have been found out by the "big money":) It's not just the big money but a lot of people from everywhere are retiring here. Expect it to get more crowded.

Sad, sad, sad! What really breaks my heart is when people chop down the trees and plant grass. To my eyes, the natural shoreline is the most beautiful.

Thrill seeking boaters? Not anymore....Bike week is a big draw....Not anymore.

It's an age-old problem everywhere. When you have a large, beautiful body of water, you're not a secret. Winni was never a secret as far back as I can tell. Heck, I remember when most of the area was so quiet as to be boring (I was young then :laugh:). We would have died to have places like the Town Docks to go to. As it was, we had the Weirs, arcades, and finally fast food on the water.

Wealthy people have always been on Winni, mostly old money though. Back when my dad bought his camp and 100' for $10K, we had just trees and clean water. It was a beautiful place to grow up on the lake. Fact is, it still is. The only thing I regret about the changes there now are the prices :( I know of a few people that almost laugh at their waterfront property taxes. One particular story says it all. A plane, boats, and doesn't even make a dent in the change in income taxes from the now infamous tax cut. Somehow, I've not been able to save enough of my tax cut to pay for my boat slip.

Skiffingtons stepping up in the world. He built alot of homes in Suissevale years ago. He has done well by the lake.
