Millie B.
Hi Folks... I made a reservation for the Millie B for Sunday for a private 1 hr charter for my husband for his birthday. He has always wanted to go for a ride on a Mahogany boat. Have any of you ever done this?

Great choice. If your husband is into wooden boats, a certain amount of noise, spray, and speed, then you have made a great choice.
From my experience, if you have a little talk with the driver first about where you would like to go and see, I'm sure you will have fun. In an hour you will be able to see quite abit of the Lake, and, hopefully, the driver can narrate some of the highlights. PS: Don't forget to be ni$e to the driver when the trip is completed !! |
OK, I've never heard about this Millie B, but I'm a little slow. Can I get more details?

Wear your Life Jacket
I have no idea who the heck the captain(s) of the Millie B is/are but this bonehead came within 25 feet of me coming out of Wolfeboro bay a couple of weeks ago. I expect better from a tour boat operator. Perhaps a little less turning around and talking to your passengers and more paying attention to the boat traffic would be in order.

The Millie B is a mahogany runabout built in the 1920's... she can take up to 12 passengers for 30 minute ride around wolfeboro or you can charter it for an hour. We have seen it on the lake numerous times and it is a great looking boat. So I thought it would be different thing to do & I was wondering if anyone had already done it. It leaves from Wolfebor pier & I belive it is part of the Trolley Company.. Looks like fun... I will let you know of Monday !

It was made from the original design, so you're probably safe ;)

Hazelnut and Siksukr are right the captain of the Millie B is one of the worst violators of the 150 ft. rule he does not care who he cuts off I have heard this from many boaters.

Later that week, we saw him go by a sailboat even closer and faster. I called the company and got an answering machine. I left a message that this was their one warning - any future violations like that, and I will send photos and/or videos to Marine Patrol and will file a complaint. Maybe others can call and voice the same message..... |
Thanks everyone, looks neat but the price is a bit much when you can spend about the same for a ride on the Sophie C. Maybe...

Bottom line: Whatever floats your boat... :D P.S.- Don't forget to keep an eye on the Sophie's wake near Bear and the other Islands. Remind the Captain that it's not nice to excite the Big Boat / Big Wake people. P.P.S.- The Millie B will give you a look-see of the McMansions at that part of the Lake. :D |
