Shrinkwrap Recycling

The New Hampshire Recreational Boaters Association, along with the NH Marine Trade Association, is having our 1st Annual Shrinkwrap Recycling Program. And it just happens to be on Earth Day!!!!

Where You can drop your shrinkwrap off at any of these marinas
Lakeport Landing Marina...Laconia
Channel Marine...Weirs
Silver Sands Marina...Gilford
Shep Brown's...Meredith

When
Sunday, April 22
10am to 3pm

Rules
1. The shrinkwrap must be clean and dry
2. All vents, door and stickers must be removed
3. The belly band must be removed
4. The shrinkwrap must be bound with either a shrinkwrap strip or with shrinkwrap tape. Ropes, twine etc are not acceptable.
5. Since there is a lot of handling involved, the packets must not be too large that a single individual can not lift or maneuver them.

For more info you can email me at [email protected] or if you want to volunteer to help. Please feel free to pass the word!!

An idea from Massachusetts?

Quote:

Coastal boatyards in Massachusetts annually use an estimated 130 tons of LDPE, according to a study by Haley & Aldrich, a national environmental consulting firm in Boston. Thanks to the Massachusetts Marine Shrink Wrap program around 25 percent, or 36 tons, of boat shrink wrap was recycled in 2002.

Don't forget Winnisquam-Marine started shrinkwrap recycling in 2006, and they may be a closer location to you.
