Welch Power
 

It seems the power is down on Welch Island and has been since very late Friday night…I reported the outage to Eversource who was unaware. If you have a place on Welch it would be a good idea to report the outage so they go out and correct the issue before the winter…

If they can still get someone with a boat to bring them out there. You have to remember EverSource has to schedule someone to bring them out there, they do not have their own boat. They do have an Argo for the winter though but have very strict protocols they need to follow about how thick the ice has to be the entire way out.
Hope they can get out there for you.

I believe Fays takes them out. Its still plenty early so it should get fixed…

Email today at 3:09 pm says 19 Welch customewrs without power have been restored.

My place is still down and the south side of the island is still completely dark from what I can see from my mainland home…Must have more work to do…

Have there been many winters where, following an early-season power interruption, there was no power restoration through the winter months - until after ice out?

In the 18 years I have been on Welch, only one time (last year) we had no power for about 4-5 weeks as ice was not safe enough for the crew to go out and repair. For the most part they have been great at getting service back up and running in a timely manner...
