Lily Pond

For those interested, Lily Pond was completely iced over yesterday when I went by. I’m sure after last night temperatures in the teens, it’s frozen pretty solid this morning….Maybe we will have a winter this year?

Yeah, I saw that a few days ago even before we had the rain. Frankly I hadn't expected to see it frozen over for another week or two, so maybe that bodes well for winter.

Yesterday ice on Alton Bay to the bandstand

Yesterday, there was a skim of ice from about Downing's Landing to just beyond the bandstand.

Keep a good thought!

People were ice fishing on Lilly Pond last weekend.
There was a boat going out from Glendale toward Welch direction around 10:30 this AM though.

I really like the meteorologist Matt Noyes, who used to be the weatherman on NECN. He left last year and started his own weather app / business, "1 Degree Outside", along with his wife, who is also a meteorologist. (the app is free on the app stores). In his long range forecast a few days ago, he indicated that there is a lot of polar air that should be making its way into New England around Dec 20 or so, and lasting through the start of the new year. So maybe we'll have some safe ice for pond hockey, ice fishing, etc?
