It's good to be home...everything is as it should be, no damage and no evidence of rodents! The borrowed 13 foot whaler did an awesome job getting a good sized load out, and at 35 mph...faster than the pontoon! I did have to stand up a few times to work the cramps out! Plenty of wine...no x's to stand on...life is as it should be![emoji6]Attachment 15796

LOL looks like me yesterday as well!

All moved in as well and here for the long haul too. Moving all my computer equipment out of my office at work on Friday packing it all up here yesterday was about twice the work as I normally have to do. However can't beat the view!

I’m envious! I’m working from home but still have to be at school on a regular basis so students and families have what they need. At least I’ll be able to stretch the weekends.

Is anyone worried about having pipes full of water so early? I'd think a cold spell is possible with well below freezing temps. I'm thinking about heading up tomorrow, but I'm a little concerned about turning the water on.

With the exception of the main water line, all other plumbing was purposely placed in the house for that very reason, so no worries here.

Way faster!

I looked at the long range weather and it doesn't look like the temps are going to drop far enough to where I am concerned, even if it dips below freezing for a short period of time it'd take a lot to freeze the pipes at this point.

I re-plumbed my place so if I fear a hard freeze I can blow the house out in about 15 minutes with my air compressor and a quick disconnect (inline camlock) at the pump will drain the feed line to the house in a matter of minutes.

OR just keep the water running at a low trickle....

I blew the lines out in the fall before we closed, and didn't stop til only air was coming out...when I turned the water on yesterday I had a broken fitting on the upstairs toilet feed line, and a bad hose for the downstairs sink. Maybe this fall more air!!

Yea, ours is supposed to self drain, but I had the main line under the camp freeze and break a couple years ago. Looks like iffy weather for the next week after Mon/Tue, so I think I'll come up to check things out and rough it with no water. We're not that far away, but far enough that it's a real pain to go back just to drain the water again if it gets really cold. I don't worry much about it in the fall because I figure the warm water in the lake will hold the temps up, but this time of year...

That's great. I'm jealous. I don't own a boat and never have. I wish I had a small boat like that one that I could take out on the lake.

But I also do not live on the lake, but within walking distance. So I guess it would be a big hassle to get a boat to the lake and expensive to keep somewhere there. I have no idea how it all works. All new to me. LOL!

But it looks wonderful.

Haven't had a boat this small in 20 years, but it's a loaner from a friend...we have two boats in storage, but the facility is closed so we cant get them out...it's all good!

OK. You're new here. You'll find friends who have boats. Then you'll join the boat club at Akwa Maine, then you'll buy a boat. Some of my boating friends ate french fries on a family boat and now they're addicted. Be careful. Some went to sandbars, and later met a boat salesman introduced by a friend. Be very very careful of boat salesmen. They can commit your entire family to a lifetime of fun, bigger boats and more time on the water. Very dangerous, and all the time, your kids and friends will just think it's a lot of fun.
I've been addicted since my father let me drive around age 6. Now, it's a lifetime curse.

yes it is...hard to get a good picture...I think the bow of the 13 ft whaler was 4 feet up in the air! :D

well since my "essential job" has been cut to 24 hours a week, I have a little more time on my hands!

You need the "Essential" T shirt to make sure everyone treats you with respect!

I would change it to " quite frankly, I AM a big deal! :laugh:

I don't...but the schedule gives me a week off every other week. I now work the tail end of one week, sunday off, work 3 days and off til the following Thursday.

On an island, you don't need kitty litter, and just a Sears Catalog, no TP. (Remember Sears? You ordered stuff, almost anything, from a catalog, and it was delivered to your front door? What a unique idea. And the old catalog went to the outhouse for "recycling". Hmmm. Which product pages were saved until last?)

None to be had at the Gilford Shaws. Still have some in reserve, and just the two of us, so it's fine...maybe time to eat more cheese!

We replaced the Sears Catalog in the outhouse with toilet paper and entered the new era...It's changed out lives.

I understand we're planning on indoor plumbing next. I anticipate maintenance concerns...Fishing time gone. Money spent on repairs I can't do...

In the later years, before our conversion to toilet paper, I was able to save an originial "Whole Earth Catalog" Still got it...In tact! No stains. No tears.
