I saw it on my way back to Ma last night. It was quite a sight.:)

Spetacular!
Not sure if this is accurate, but the buzz is the color of the moon is smoke from the Southwestern fires.
|
Yes, it was a great big red ball when it was rising! It was so beautiful! I heard the haze we have been having was from the fires in Ca. so I imagine the moon is affected by them too. Thanks for mentioning that. I wondered why it was so red

Actually forest fires in Canada https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/im...ets-eastern-us

Sunrise and sunsets also effected!

we looked it up on the way home
its called a Sturgeon Moon, it is called that because fisherman found that when the moon looked like that it was the best time to catch sturgeon |

oops! my bad.....I did hear on TV that it had to do with forest fire smoke coming from Canada.....didn't realize that the actual fires were in CA!! The link posted by Broadhopper shows how it is coming across the continent. |

My wife got a panorama picture this morning of the sun rising and the moon about to set...pretty cool.
I'll have her send it to me and I'll post it. Picture is deceiving as the moon was over the mainland south of Governor’s Island and the sun was coming up over Welch. |
Great photos...Went on The Mt....
Washington's "Full Moon Cruise" last night with "Annie and the Orphans"...
Good time, but cloudy and no moon. Great sunset though! |
