Boat Rental

Just purchased a place in Alton. Looking to rent a few boats to determine what we like the best. Any recommendations on where to rent from on the lake?

Goodhue and Hawkins

That's a pretty broad question. What kind of boat are you looking for - bow rider? pontoon? Cuddy? ...there are many types to choose from. The boat show is in Boston this weekend and many of the Winni marinas are there might be worth checking out. We bought ours from Goodhue and Hawkins in 2014 and couldn't have had a better experience. They are dealers for Cobalt boats which are very nice. The GM Steve is a great guy. He runs the place and his staff is top notch. Ask for Jeremiah in sales -he is great guy and really patient with first time boat owners. Provides a lot of education and is extremely helpful in every aspect of the experience. Good Luck!

I think if you're a member at AKWA marine you can use a variety of boats all season as your need/wishes change.

If you just rent, ask about applying the rental fee to an eventual purchase.
Whatever you end up with, experience in a variety of boat types/sizes is well worth gaining experience.

Goodhue and Hawkins

We bought a house in Wolfeboro last July and rented Cobalt Bowriders from Goodhue and Hawkins for 5 weekends to get a feel for what we want to buy. We tried 3-4 different boats and were always happy with the experience. Very flexible when the weather was poor.

Heading to the Boat Show tonight and hope to meet up with Jeremiah to get his help finding the right boat to purchase.

I think his point was that he wanted to try all the boats you mentioned so he could figure out what he wants to buy.

The new Winnisquam Marine location in the Weirs Channel will be renting a ton of boats (fiberglass and pontoon). All the boats should be new as well. It would be worth checking out.

You will likely want to rent at several different marinas as they typically offer different brands. Check out each of the marinas on the lake and compile a list of what they will be offering.
