wild blueberries

Can anyone speak to the status of ripening wild blueberries right now? Has anyone been picking? Curious how the drought has affected this year's crop.

I've seen tons on the top of Mt. Major in early August.

We are already enjoying this year's crop.;)

Delicious!

We have also been enjoying them "up top" as we hike. They seem as plentiful as ever!

We picked our first ones yesterday but they have been ripe for a few days anyway. They are delicious and we have a lot this year. I think it is a good year for them.

We have been high bush blueberries on our property for a couple of weeks. I made a pie and muffins yesterday.

Just grabbed a pint from Angelic Farm--great place and great berries!

The birds are getting big and fat in our yard, they beat us to the worm this year.

Pine Mountain this AM.

Spent an hour on Pine Mountain this morning, early. Here are the rewards: 3 Quarts!

Our original plan for this morning was Pine Mt. Checked the basement pantry and there still was blueberry & strawberry jam and wild grape jelly. But zero jars of raspberry jam left.:( A completely unacceptable situation. So we just got back from picking raspberries at Smith's in Gilford. Some crushed raspberries, sugar and Certo are now in the pot getting happy.

So probably Pine Mt. tomorrow morning.

We did get to Pine Mt early today. By the time that we left at about 8:30, there were about 10 others picking and we met another 10 or so that were on the way up. At this point you will have to look around some to find unpicked patches.

A very nice spot to hike to anytime of year with a great view. All thanks to Mary Jane Morse Greenwood who gifted the 431 acres to the Forest Society in memory of her parents.

BTW, J has a batch of blueberry jam just poured into jars:)
