Member "Old Coot" Passes

I'd been reading "Rambling through History" in The Weirs Times for 15 years, and learned a few years ago that he was a member of an antique radio forum, Winnipesaukee.com/forums/, as well as the many short-lived Wolfeboro political forums.

As a fan of Ernie Kovacs, he wrote most recently as member "Matzoh Heppelwhite" here.

I never met him, although we could have crossed paths at Tuftonboro's Shore Acres resort. His forum contributions were many—leaning elsewhere towards household electrical appliances manufactured in the last half-century or older—and in local Wolfeboro forums, politics.

Here, he had much to say about "The Quiet Side" of the lake:

The Weirs Times Biography:
Quote:

"Mal has written for the Weirs Times since 1995. So far, in the years he’s been in New Hampshire he’s been in the TV business, owned a bowling alley and operated an automotive repair garage [Robomotive]. He enjoys his antique radio hobby and his writing."

Another mention:

Quote:

"He was probably best known for driving around in his green 1951 Hudson Hornet around the area in the summertime."

Thanks for posting. It probably makes sense to have an obituary category on the forum. I can think of many forum members that have passed. It makes sense to have an area where they can be remembered.

I'm not sure if "Old Coot" would approve of this thread, especially coming from you!

APS;

You probably should have noted in your post that Mal passed over 6 months ago...

I enjoyed his many writings and his wit!

Dan

Just to make it clear where I'm coming from, "Old Coot" didn't like this forum, APS, or any of APS's aliases.
I knew him personally as well as participated with him on various forums in the lakes region and I pretty well know where he wants to be remembered.

Sorry "Old Coot", but I just had to let it be known how you felt and I hope I did the right thing.

It's nice that you buried the hatchet with Matzoh by posting his obit. He sure didn't have anything nice to say about you.

From the wolfe forum excerpts that you posted, "News Hawk appears to be a tormented man filled with resentment, anger, and disdain for anyone of an opinion or view other than his."

Like "Mo", and Skipper of the C Q—Gone to History...

I've long advocated Freedom of Speech. ;)

RIP Worthy Adversary...

I think both members, APS and Old Coot loved to post just stir the pot. So in Old Coot's death, he is still stirring the pot. APS got you all going. OC is looking down and laughing that sarcastic laugh.

I agree. I think APS was being reflective and sincere with his post. I'm sure he misses his foil the Old Coot.
