Boat stuck in Financial District Boston

Boat stuck today in the Financial District Boston !

http://www.universalhub.com/2015/boa...ncial-district

What genious decided to tow this boat through downtown Boston, just amazing!

Maybe he was trying to launch in the 'ha-ba' ! :)

With all the snow banks in Bahston, I can imagine the logistics nightmare for the boat show. Should be after the snow season.

bigdog 02-11-2015 05:23 PM

Just got the scope on the boat in Financial District Boston....

It's a Hinkley 37' Picnic boat. The driver was taking this to the Boston Boat Show to open this weekend. Guess the driver's GPS was off or he was given bad directions, either way he's in big Do-Do !

BTW, our distinguished U.S. Secretary of State (Ex Mass Senator) John Kerry and home-maker TV personality Martha Stewart both owned this type boat.
Awwww the beautiful people.....

Base price for a Hinkley 37' Picnic boat, around $525,000 w/o electronics.
Seems like a lot of money to go on a picnic ! :)

....should have used Roy from Shipping Wars...driving a Dodge dually and a gooseneck......a NH guy.....he'd a-known all about keeping those rear tandem wheels out of the snow banks.....just like driving in New Hampshire....... for extra traction you's just slap some cow manure onto the tire treads......yes-suh!........go ROY go!

gwhite13 02-11-2015 06:18 PM

hinkley

Alas poor Roy has passed away. Seems it was a '43 with TRW drives, interestingly enough.

bigdog 02-11-2015 06:27 PM

Hinkley ?

Yup, that sure looks like John Kerry's old 'Scaramouche' !

Maybe he was having this delivered and parked behind his digs on Beacon Hill :) Oh Luvy, Luvy… has the driver delivered the boat yet?

No boat yard storage and shrink-wrap for this boat ! :)

My first picnic boat was a yellow 13' canoe. It cost wifey (my girlfriend back then) $185. It was not a Hinkley.

It was not the last boat that she bought for me.

She's a keeper despite being the cause of my continued HDS (Hinkley Deprivation Syndrome).

Can you imagine the cleaning required on the boats coming into the show?

dickiej 02-11-2015 08:19 PM

Actually, isn't it a Backwater, basically a Hinkley knock-off? I delivered liquid oxygen in East Boston, Chelsea, Charlestown, Somerville, Everett, Revere, Malden and Medford for seven years. A NIGHTMARE after snow storms. Couldn't navigate the narrow streets and got stuck or had to back down streets several times. I totally sympathize with this poor guy! Talk about stress!

At least the driver could get a cup of joe...

At least the driver could get a cup of joe while waiting to get dug out. Yesterday, this Starbucks and just about every other coffee house on Summer St. was closed.

LOL. I saw a picture on twitter yesterday that had some significant damage done by the snowbank. I wonder if the boat will make it to the show?

Kerry's married to a billionare, to him a boat like that is equivelant to me shooting to Burger King for lunch.

The Twitter feed in the links show a picture that looks like a hole punched in the side. Ouch!

Cobalt 25 02-12-2015 11:38 PM

It is a Hinckley. The driver was not lost. Going to the Boat Show from Route 93 takes you right through that area, believe it or not. Under normal circumstances the driver would have been fine. Perhaps the fairly large snow bank had something to do with it? Not having enough clearance no matter how wide he tried to take the corner?

I wasn't the driver but I feel for him.

Peter

I wasn't sure......thanks for the clarification. If I ever win the lottery, I'll buy one and cruise around sipping whiskey sours and eating cucumber sandwiches!

Rich 02-15-2015 10:51 AM

I saw this boat at the boat show yesterday. A minor scratch on the bottom coat and a minor scuff on the rub rail were the only evidence of any 'damage'. Nothing else to see here, move along. ;)

I wonder if whoever buys this boat will get a discount for a 'pre-damaged boat'.
