Sail Repair

I am trying to locate a business on the lake that does sail repair. I had the name of someone this past fall, but can't find it. He's just started doing sail repair as part of a boat canvas business. Does anyone know the name of this business or person?

Fays

Cate;

I believe Fays Boatyard has someone on the premises that does this work. Can't remember his name off the top of my head but know for sure he works at Fays.

Scroll to the bottom of this page for more info... http://faysboatyard.com/?page_id=17

Good Luck!

Dan

Thanks Dan. It wasn't anybody at Fays. It was a guy who did other fabric work and was on your side of the lake. I'll give Wayne a call and see if they know him.

Ship Shape Marine Works!

Ahh. I just found them again!! (not liking this forgetful aging mind of mine)

The name of the business is:
Ship Shape Marineworks LLC
26 Waterford Pl
Gilford, NH 03249
(603) 528-7769
http://www.shipshapemarineworks.com/

They do minor sail repairs. I'm going to bring over my head sail that is losing stitching on the Sunbrella furler cover and see how they do. I'll report back so other sailors can know about this potentially valuable resource.

You never said What.. on your sail was in need of repair. If it just needs stitching..anyone can probably do it.

The Sail Maker..(Brand) and the AGE of the sail is most important. If the sails were well protected with Sail Covers,... Dacron sails will deteriorate rapidly if they are not protected from the SUN...on the off hours.

Five to maybe Seven years will probably be the limit: IF they are protected. Many people don't protect the sails. I'm talking about the Main. Headsails are (Were) usually "Bagged" and stored below.....: Roller Furling sails are probably the number one Victims of SUN Damage..UV.. :) NB

PS: A sail over seven years old is OLD. The sail is stretched, and no longer has it's original aerodynamic Shape. The Shape of the sail is what makes it effective in driving the boat foreword.
